Bubble Art

Yesterday was a rainy day, so perfect for some indoor art fun. I had read about this Bubble Paint technique a while ago. It looked really fun and easy to do with kids.

All you need is:

3tbs of water
1tbs dishsoap
coloring medium (I tried out Dylusions sprays, acryl paint and food coloring)
straws
drinking cups
thick paper (as the bubbles are wet, the paper need to be able to hold some water)

And maybe you would also like to use something to protect your working table and an apron for protecting your clothes as there will be some paint going around while making the bubbles.

We had a blast making these bubbles. You do have to make sure to instruct your child not to drink through the straw but to blow.

How to start:

Step 1: Add the water and dishsoap in the cup. Mix it around.
Step 2: Add the coloring medium of your choice.
Step 3: Blow softly to make bubbles until the bubbles reach over the top of the drinking cup.
Step 4: Take your paper and cover the cup so the bubbles will pop onto the paper. It is that easy!

You can layer different colors and by adding more or less color make the colors more vibrant or not. I found the food coloring to work the best but in the end you can make it work with all kind of fluid color medium. Just try it out.

Here is our end result:

You can also just spread out the bubbles on your paper with a pallet knife or such or use a stencil on your paper to get different effects.

We used postcards so we can use them for art journaling, project life or other fun. I think it makes very nice backgrounds. Just make sure to let it air-dry.
