Christmas Crochet Blanket Block #1 penquin
It is September and just a few more weeks and Christmas is here. I love Christmas time so when I came across the Christmas blanket project from Sarah and I decided I wanted to start my own Christmas blanket project.
I started to look around for designs and drawing out my own blocks as I wanted the blanket to be more my style. The finished blanket will have 9 blocks and a nice border around it. Each block will be out of graphs 35x35. With the DK yarn I am using and hook size 4mm my blocks end up being aroung 42cm big.
The first block I started with was this cute little penquin:

For this blanket I am using Stylecraft Special DK yarn. This is a very soft acrylic yarn. Normally I am not a big fan of synthetic yarn but I wanted something affordable and washable. And I have to say I really like this yarn. It is very soft and keeps it shape well.
For the penguin block I used:
I used 1 skein of each color and still have yarn over from it.
I used the C2C (corner to corner) method. But you can also make it with the bobble stitch or the hdc technique.
I bought my yarn at the local store (sieradenenzo). I used an Addi swing 4mm hook.
This block took me about 6-8 hours (did not time it) to finish.
I hope you like it and feel free to crochet along with me. If you want to share this project with others feel free to do so. I only ask for you to give a link to this blog post and do not ask money for the patterns as they are my own designs.
The next block I will be working on is the reindeer. When It is done I will share it here and on my Facebook so make sure you sign up (thru Bloglovin or Facebook) to get a message when it is up.
